FOOD PREPARATION AND SERVING

I am on the U.S.D.A. Food Program.  I provide the following meals and snacks:

Ø       Breakfast at 8:30, will consist of milk, a bread (toast, pancakes, cereal etc.) and a fruit or juice.

Ø       Lunch at 12:00, will consist of milk, a meat, a bread, a vegetable, fruit and sometimes chips, a cookie, pudding or Jell-O.

Ø       Afternoon snack at 3:00 and 3:45 will consist of at least two items from two separate food groups (crackers, peanut butter, juice, apples, milk etc.).

Each child is offered each item, but if they do not like it they do not have to eat it.  I do encourage each child take a bite of each food.   I try to make the meals always have at least two foods that your child likes so they are not hungry.  Please DO NOT send any candy, gum with your child, unless it is a special occasion.

!  Hygiene:

In the kitchen, children have their own washcloths and cups that are color coded for that individual child.  This way they will be use to their color and can find their cup. Paper towels are used for drying hands.

!  Manners and Etiquette:

The children are encouraged to always say, "Yes, please" and "no, thank you" any time that this is appropriate.  We use plastic plates for meals and each child is asked to clear their own plate and silverware and push in their chair.  Before lunchtime the children are asked to pick-up the playroom.

!  Lunchtime Prayers:

Before lunch we always sing a short prayer.  These are three prayers that we sing for lunch and the Special Helper chooses the prayer.

JOHNNY APPLESEED

Oh, the Lord is good to me.

And so I thank the Lord.

For giving me, the things I need.

Like the rain and the sun and the appleseed.

The Lord is good to me.

CHOW!

ADAM'S FAMILY

(Do the dadada things and the claps or clicks like before the Adam's Family song.)

Be present at our table, Lord.

Be here and everywhere adored.

Have mercy on our service,

So we can feast in your company.

Amen, (clap, clap)

Amen, (clap, clap)

Amen, Amen, Amen. (clap, clap)

THANK YOU GOD

Thank you God for food we eat.

Thank you God for friends we meet.

Thank you God for birds that sing.

Thank you God for everything.

GOD IS GREAT

God is great.

God is good.

Let us thank him for this food.

Amen
